In the sketch above is the work in progress for comic 83, I was trying to think of different backgrounds for the many offices of ACMELogic as Niall walk through conducting his management duties.

SketchBomb-NC excused absence

I don’t think any one will be disappointed that will not be any sketching  this evening. This is Marvel film studios 10th film, at this years’ SDCC they announced several mystery dates so can you wait for 7.28.17 Guardians of the Galaxy 2?

Guardians of the Galaxy (2014)

Action | Adventure | Sci-Fi

Box Office / business

Budget:  $170,000,000

Total Lifetime Grosses Aug. 3, 2014
Domestic:  $94,000,000.00    58.6%
+ Foreign:  $66,400,000   41.4%

Worldwide:  $160,400,000.00
 Source – Box Office Mojo

The projected gross for the domestic release of the film was $65–70 million dollars. Making it the biggest opening for a film release in August. The last film to hold the title was The Bourne Ultimatum (2007) with 69.2 million. Previous first outings by other Marvel Films, Iron Man (2008) 98.6 million, Thor (2011) 65.7 million, Captain American: The First Avenger (2011) 65 million there are some interesting numbers. Is this weird comparison or should I looked how the fair with Marvels’ The Avengers (2012) being both are team films? Wait is getting to much on business side, please don’t take this analysis as all I care about are the numbers, the film to me is the most important. I just have a weird hobby of trying to understand the business and creative side one of The United States amazing (sometimes ridiculous) exports 😉

San Diego Comic Convention International

“SDCC” is over hopefully most of you who attend avoiding getting convention crud. Maybe at you next convention you just give a fist bump to the next person instead of hand shake. I heard they are more hygienic, science, will wonder ever cease?

“I want to go to there”

Listed below are commentary from this years’ convention ranging from “criticisms and applause.”

  – Beyond The Trailer  – Nerdist SDCC coverage   – David Brothers
 – Bleeding Cool   – Comic book Resources   – Comic Alliance

*2014 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards

The Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards are considered the “Oscars” of the comics world. Named for the pioneering comics creator and graphic novelist Will Eisner, the awards are given out in more than two dozen categories during a ceremony each year at Comic-Con International: San Diego. – See more at here.

*Fan-antic moments of the convention weekend, hearing that Avatar: The Legend of Korra cancelled NOOOOOO! Whew, so they’re moving rest of the season online due low ratings, it seems piracy affected the audience numbers during regular viewings and digital video recordings.

Stephen Colbert  made a appearance SDCC to moderate this year coming film The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five ArmiesStephen Colbert, “If I could only go back in time and show this to my 13 year old self.” By the way he had a brief cameo in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug and is rumor to return again as a Laketown spy, neat.

I hear this happens quite regularly that people in the entertainment industry would cosplay to avoid being mob on the convention floor. Typically when studios have there presentations at conventions the panelists are generally required to stay off the floor limiting their own time to take in the convention. Looking at the pictures from Bleeding Cool Peter Jackson seem to enjoyed himself. Speaking of cosplay check some children interesting costumes. “Now, doesn’t the world seem a better place?”

2012-deadpool-movie-pitch

Screenshot of Deadpool from the Movie Pitch CREDIT: Fox / Blur Studio

Around 2012 Blur Studio put together a six-minute movie pitch for Fox Studios 2 which was leaked during the SDCC weekend showing just two minutes of footage. This is same studio that handle the introductory scenes  in Thor: The Dark World 2013, Star Wars Old Republic and DC Universe Online. I wonder what kind of buzz would this generate and would they still cast Ryan Reynolds in the lead as Wade Wilson? *Whisper* let it be true.

Thank you for reading, back to making comics.
