Jamal is begrudging foodie and some of the cast are his test subjects. Beware and be amazed. I was hoping to do a segue to twitter and the elusive hashtag that surrounds the subject #food, #foodtruck. Since this comic is running behind, pardon that, here are some interesting items I found about food trucks, and a person in the business.

Huffington Post  – Where Did the Modern U.S. Food Truck Movement Really Start?

By Moe Min, Taco Truck Enthusiast

The current food truck phenomenon as we understand it is generally thought to have started in 2008 with Kogi BBQ truck in LA. [1] I should preface what is meant by the “food truck phenomenon” as actual food trucks have been around for over a century [2]. The current food truck popularization has the following hallmarks:

  • Fusion of cooking styles and genres. Taking ‘gourmet’ restaurant ingredients like duck and fusing them with your traditional tortilla to give you a duck taco for example.
  • Social media: the likes of Twitter did play a role, if overblown at times, in driving these new age food trucks into the popular culture.

Danielle Corestto Girls with Slingshots 10th year anniversary tour

I you haven’t heard this is the 1oth year of the comic and  celebrating with a United States Tour… Oh my stars and garters.

“Believe it or not, dear readers, Girls With Slingshots is turning TEN YEARS OLD this year! Nearly eighteen hundred strips in, it doesn’t feel like it’s been that long!

So to celebrate the strip’s decadeversary, I’m traveling across the US to visit readers in some of the places that I never get to visit (because apparently I like celebrating ten years of hard work with more hard work)! We’re calling it the Slingshot Across America Tour.”

Hopefully to get the chance to meet her if you haven’t already. Here’s to another year of a wonderful comic and hopefully many more to come.

Superman 75th Anniversary Animated Short

“From the creative minds of Zack Snyder (Man of Steel) and Bruce Timm (Superman: The Animated Series) and produced by Warner Bros. Animation, this short follows Superman through the years, from his first appearance on the cover of Action Comics #1 to Henry Cavill in this year’s Man of Steel…all in two minutes!”

After watching this wonderful clip my growing feeling about DC Nu52 concept, now a little over 2 years old, they are really are “trying too hard” with their superheroes and shared universe concept.

How could miss this last year, many thanks to Toddy-J for sharing the clip. Also, for graciously taking my occasional rants about DC as trying to have an  informed critique not just fan boy cynicism.
